For more than 30 years, the UK has had a single press identity card – the UK Press Card, which is issued by the UK Press Card Authority (UKPCA) It is the only press identity card recognised by the UK chief police officers’ associations and government departments. It is issued under the unique joint supervision and sponsorship of the UK’s newspaper associations, broadcasters, periodical publishers, media trades unions and professional associations, and media agencies. The members of this scheme are called the gatekeeper organisations and each has a director on the authority’s board. NAPA are one of the longest serving gatekeepers and can issue UK Press Cards to our members and any employee’s or frelancers working for them, subject to those people fully meeting the criteria of the UK Press Card scheme.
